My niece needed a table to support her new kajillion gallon aquarium. Fish need nice places to live as well. Marking out all the pieces on this slab of Ash.

All the pieces have been cut to rough size and jointed.

Everything is milled to final width and thickness, then cut to final length.

Mortise and tenons have been cut. Grooves in the legs to accept the plywood panels have been created. All the pieces are sanded and ready for glue-up. I should have probably taken more photos of the steps in between these steps.

Gluing up one side of the table. I’ll repeat the process for the other side.

Gluing the two sides together incorporating the back panel and the front stretchers. The top front stretcher is dovetailed into the legs and the bottom front stretcher is attached using twin mortise and tenons.

Gluing cleats on the bottom to act as support for the bottom shelf. I added cleats to the top as well to screw the top on.

This mess of clamps is me laminating two pieces of plywood together to make sure the table top is strong enough to support the weight of the aquarium. I used solid 1/4″ Ash edging to hide the plys.

Three coats of oil varnish and it’s ready for delivery.
